In contemporary architecture the creative aspect of brick construction has, regrettably, experienced something of a decline, largely as a result of shifting architectural trends that increasingly favor economics, functionality, and efficiency over form, expression, and ornamentation.
This course is intended to restore clay brick as a medium of art and reignite the proverbial spark by spotlighting interesting historical facts about brick and showcasing some of the more inspiring examples of brick architecture throughout history, while also teaching participants the advantages of building with brick and exploring the many uses and applications for brick in modern architecture.
