Project Description

Olmsted is a 163-unit midrise apartment community in the Yamacraw Village area of Savannah’s historic downtown – one block from the Savannah River. Brick possesses both modern and traditional qualities that reflect the design intent of the project, which was to comply with the Historic District design guidelines while also augmenting the modern nature of the project. Olmsted exists in an industrial area of the Historic District. The design embraced that context and offered a modern interpretation of that aesthetic. In addition to meeting the design guideline requirements for masonry, brick was one of the primary devices by which the design achieved its character through textural articulation.
